Dental / Eyeglass assistance

I am a 50 year old woman working a part time job and cannot afford dental or eye glasses. I can barely afford to keep my home, food, utilities, etc. Such a bad place to be in life. An illness made me unable to keep my good job or my home. I've lost it all. Now I need eyeglasses and dental work and do not know where to turn. Can anyone help? I live in the New Kensington area which is outside greater Pittsburgh.

The cost of care is usually less then half of that of a private dentist.

Currently, the clinic offers treatment in dental hygiene, comprehensive and limited specialty dentistry for adults, as well as pediatric dentistry. The dental clinic is open all year, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. -  4:30 p.m., except for scheduled school holidays. For an appointment or more information, call (225) 334-4934.

Wisconsin Oral Health Program: Donated Dental Services Program

Donated Dental Services (DDS) is a Wisconsin Dental Association program. The program is directed to people who are unable to afford needed dental care because of a limited income which is clearly linked to a permanent disability, chronic illness or advanced age (65 and over).  All the information pertaining to the applicant’s need is based on a completed application and a phone interview done by the referral coordinator.

Dentists have agreed to volunteer their services to 1-2 patients a year. Each volunteer dentist decides for him/herself whether to formally accept a person based on meeting the person and assessing his or her dental needs. The referral coordinator is available to help the volunteers with such matters as a referral to a specialist, and securing donated laboratory services should a patient need services with lab related needs.

Since 1998, hundreds of participating dentists and dental labs, working through the coordinated efforts of the DDS program, have provided more than $5 million in free treatment to thousands of patients.

The Department of Health Services provides some administrative and lab funding, but all volunteer dentists donate 100 percent of their materials, staff and services. Delta Dental of Wisconsin and the WDA Insurance Programs have also contributed financial support.

The program is affiliated with the WDA Foundation.
